Gut microbiota composition

We’re all familiar with the saying that microbial cells outnumber human cells by 10 times and that we live for our bacteria. A research in 2016 showed that the numbers of resident microbes and human cells are in fact the same. Here’s a glimpse of the microbiota composition throughout the GI tract:
