How to do sphincterotomy

After the successful article on How to do colonoscopy, here’s another great treat from the Masters of Endoscopy published jointly in Endoscopy and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy – How to perform sphincterotomy.

Lars Aabakken and Gregory Haber discuss about planning the extent and direction of the cut, choosing the right sphincterotome, the cutting settings and failed cannulation. As the authors point out, the sphincterotomy should be finalized in one go.

The authors also approach complications such as bleeding and perforation, and their management.
