Very-Low-Volume Bowel Prep for Colonoscopy

One of the biggest burdens of colonoscopy is bowel preparation. Plenvu (NER1006) is a low-volume polyethylene glycol-based solution with electrolytes which can be successfully used as pre-colonoscopy cleansing preparation, as an alternative to standard volume or other low-volume prep solutions.

The 1-liter prep has shown superiority over other low-volume prep options in several studies, being the lowest-volume bowel prep solution and the best alternative for patients who have difficulty tolerating standard preparations in terms of cleaning efficacy and adverse effects.

Plenvu was noninferior/outperformed MoviePrep (2 liter PEG + ascorbate) – MORA study (UEG Journal 2016), a trisulfate bowel cleansing solution – NOCT study (Gastrointest Endosc 2017), a sodium picosulfate and magnesium salt solution – DAYB study (Endoscopy 2018).
